US Mens National Soccer Team (US MNT) Camp starts January 4th in Los Angeles

US Soccer has announced a Mens National Team training camp to be held at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles starting January 4th.  The three week camp will culminate in a friendly game against the Sweden national team on 24 January.

Coach Bob Bradley has called 25 players to come to camp.  Soccer by Ives notes that only three players from a similar camp in 2005 will be at this camp: Brian Ching, Jon Busch, and Chad Marshall.

The camp and presumably the friendly will be missing a lot of US talent, as that talent is plying their craft in top leagues overseas.  Key players like Dempsey, Donovan, Adu, Johnson, Altidore, Beasley, Oneyewu, Bocanegra, Torres, & Bradley and numerous others aren’t included in the camp.  There is a full team of US quality, perhaps the very best players we could field on the US national team, who won’t be involved.

The best players make lesser teammates raise their game, but the best players won’t even be there.
