This is a roster that bears watching.
The San Jose Earthquakes have been working hard to develop an attacking squad though the MLS salary cap limits how many proven players can be acquired. Frank Yallop, having bet big and successfully on Darren Huckerby, mature at the ripe age of 32, has also brought in a great number of attacking young lions who, aside from Convey and Alvarez, are less proven.
There is alot of young fire in these collective bellies, and young legs beneath them.
| Age | Status | Player | Position |
| 24 | Starter | Arturo Alvarez | Midfield |
| 24 | Starter | Ryan Johnson | Forward |
| 25 | Starter | Cam Weaver | Forward |
| 26 | Starter | Bobby Convey | Midfield |
| 21 | Sub | Quincy Amarikwa | Forward |
| 23 | Sub | Shea Salinas | Midfield |
| 24 | Sub | Davide Somma | Forward |
| 25 | Sub | Pablo Campos | Forward |
What does this promise for the future?
Bobby Convey may be a veteran, but otherwise these players are still developing, and some of them are already playing some superlative football. The Earthquakes could have a remarkable attacking squad in seasons ahead as these players each strive to fulfill their individual promise.
Of course for fans the goals cannot come too soon.
