US vs. Trinidad & Tobago WCQ – two fowards compared

Brian Ching (USA, Houston Dynamo) and Kenwyne Jones (TNT, Sunderland) are both tall, strong, and fond of finding the net.  Similar forwards, but who is better?

If the rest of the team behind them was equal, which forward would you like better?

Brian Ching - Striker for USA, Houston Dynamo

Brian Ching - Striker for USA, Houston Dynamo

Brian Ching has been around longer, so he has both more experience but older legs. Ching has been part of MLS Cup championship squads in both San Jose and Houston, and scored for the USA against Trinidad & Tobago in June 2007. He has 33 caps and 9 goals for the USA. Ching, a surfer, has a knack for being in the right place at the right time, an intuition strikers need.

Kenwyne Jones: Striker for Trinidad & Tobago, Sunderland

Kenwyne Jones has been playing for Trinidad & Tobago about the same number of years Ching has played for the USA, and has 36 caps and 4 goals for Trinidad and Tobago.

Kenwyne Jones is athletic and has serious pace. Kenwyne produces fewer goals for Sunderland than Ching does for the Dynamo, but he is scoring in the EPL on a team that is relatively weak compared to the competition, and the EPL may be the toughest league in the world.

Any goal predictions for Wednesday’s game? Will these strikers find the net?
