Messi at the Seattle Space Needle

Any Lionel Messi fans out there?

Here’s Messi juggling the ball atop the Space Needle today, more than 500 feet above Seattle.

FC Barcelona will face MLS’s Seattle Sounders in a sold-out match at Qwest Field Wednesday, August 5. FC Barcelona beat the LA Galaxy 2-1 in front of 93,000 fans at the Rose Bowl. That is the most fans to attend a soccer game in the US since the 1994 FIFA World Cup, but frankly, what venue would hold more fans?

When people say that the USA doesn’t care about soccer, apparently that does not include FC Barcelona and Messi, who is arguably the best soccer player in the world.

FC Barcelona will face CD Guadalajara on Saturday, August 8 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco as part of a double header after the San Jose Earthquakes take on the Columbus Crew. It’s unquestionably the soccer event of the season in Northern California.

Oh, I think the US does love soccer, though we try not to show it!

Why do we sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” when we are already there?
