Gabriel Batistuta was an example of the single minded Striker, remarkable at that aspect of the game.

Where Wayne Rooney or Didier Drogba will track back and play defense, and even use that to set up a goal opportunity for others, the single minded Striker has a sole focus on the art of getting the ball into the back of the net.  It makes for a less complete player, but being incredibly good at that one aspect of the game can change the outcome of a match.

For any young players who are passionate about scoring goals, why not try to play as Gabriel?  There is remarkable skill in how he dribbles and touches the ball through defenders, and his strikes and chips are brilliant, Gabriel bending the ball with the most momentary of touches, much harder than it looks.

Should one fail to reach Gabriel’s skill level dribbling and striking, the skills developed should nevertheless serve one well further back on the pitch.
